Solar Sound Bots Workshop

Birdsong and the sounds insects make have fascinated people since time immemorial. The first “singing devices” date back to Antiquity. Later, in the eighteenth century, people built complex mechanical machines able to mimic birdsong.

We too plan to emulate the sounds of birds and insects in this workshop. We will build and solder simple electronic audio equipment – aka “sound-bots” – that can reproduce the songs and sounds of various creatures. These singing devices function independently because they are powered by solar cells.
